Hello!
mikeside it's Ed Lagman.
Ed
Love was my radio name during
my broadcasting years with DZMB-fm at Manila Broadcasting
Company. My co-dj's then were: Annie Buyco
[voice-talent for Magnolia ice cream flavor of the month],
Archie Chica, Manny Luzon and Sonny Laragan [News Director] just to name a few.
Before joining DZMB-fm, I was rockin' and rollin' with
another Top Hits station, DWIZ in Sunshine
City, Manila.
The WIZ
jocks I worked with were: Bimbo Valdes as Bo
Bopper Bimbo, Manny Reyes as Mac Roller (deceased), Louie Chavez as Brother
Louie, Sam Laus as Smarty Sam, and Freddie Alingod (deceased),
known to his listeners as Freddie Brown. I was the notorious Jack
The Ripper.
How I got into radio? GMA
7, back when it was still owned by Bob Stewart, introduced
short-term courses in radio-tv broadcasting & radio-tv
production. I took both courses & eventually found
broadcasting to be my cup of tea. I learned the ropes of
broadcasting from seasoned radiomen, Teddy Ocampo & Chito
Paredes, whom I was fortunate to have as my mentors.
It was Teddy Ocampo who gave me the break. He made every
member of the class go through an audition & I was lucky
enough to be chosen. Henry Astorga (JJ Henry of DZXQ), Dante David
(Howlin' Dave of DZRJ), Jun Martin (GMA-Channel 7
continuity announcer) and a lady named Agnes from our batch eventually
became "on-air" personalities.
Who else have I worked
with? There's Ed Picson, Divine Pascual, Vic Sabalvaro
(deceased),
aka Dynamic Vic, George Canseran (deceased), aka George Curly, Bing
Balangue, Brother Becky & a few others whose names I can't
recall.
